Please Help With A Legal Issue?

My dad was summoned to be a witness because his former employer is suing another company. He didn’t like working there and left. He got another job that he actually liked but soon after he was summoned. He didn’t come to the door to accept the papers. After a while they stopped coming and he heard the court case was over. Recently they have started coming back even though he thinks the court case is over. My question is that is there a crime he would be guilty of if he was “not home” whenever a person showed up to give him a summon?

no…a summons must be served in person to the party it is addressed to.
I believe if he lives in any state other than California an attorney can go for him. Other then that he will need to show up in court.. I work with people that deal with this type of stuff.. If you have any question give me call 619-495-2158 or email me @
