a car accident took place and i gave the officer my statement and he went and talked to people i stated i was with and told them something that i had never said and mixed my words around completely and in fact told them the exact opposite of what i was assuring him several times that had not happened. therefor my friends think i threw them under the bus so i wouldnt get in trouble and made something up. which is not the case at all. and because of this half of my friends wont talk to me and i am looking for legal action i can take because of this help

    Grammar.

Contrary to popular opinion, it is not optional.

The police are not bound to tell the truth when they are interviewing suspects. They commonly make up false statements made by co-defendants or witnesses to tell defendants as an interrogation technique. It was probably clear to the officer what happened and that you were lying so he told the others that story instead of what you said to speed up the process. It wouldn’t make sense for him to repeat what you said; it would only give the other people the chance to correlate a false account. So, if you’re asking if you can take legal action against the officer, no. He was acting within his legal bounds.
